Murrell expansive dialogues on the human condition: the fundamental nature of being, how we relate to each other and the universe that surrounds us. Utilizing an eclectic range of mediums that include installation, sculpture, drawing, photography, print-making as well as found objects and outdated technologies, her concepts go beyond a linear timeline of a progressive past, present and future to challenge and rebuild the structures that are the framework of shaping and defining race, gender, class.
Murrell’s works have exhibited nationally and internationally for the past decade, in venues such as Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Bronx Museum, African-American Museum of Art, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art and The Whitney Museum.
