Electric Punanny
"Tradition is the hardest habit to change, and it's empowering to see Africa's Out! challenge tradition through art, music and collaboration."
Electric Punanny began as one of NYC's most popular monthly underground parties that boasted founders JSMN and MeLo-X's love for reggae, dancehall, house and electronic music. Since then, the movement has come to represent a melting pot of downtown youth, indie and street cultures all around the world. Over the last seven years, followers of Electric Punanny have been treated to guest performers and hosts including Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Melanie Fiona, Theophilus London, Chuck Inglish (The Cool Kids), Bunji Garlin, Dre Skull, Dubbel Dutch, Johnny Osbourne and more.
With such a winning template, it only made sense that Electric Punanny would extend this energy and translate it in other locales worldwide. Electric Punanny has toured nationally in major US cities such as Los Angeles, Miami, Boston, DC, Austin (SXSW) and Indio (Coachella). They've wrapped two international performance tours in Tokyo, Australia, Sweden, Paris, London, Berlin, China, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines and South Africa. Electric Punanny has headlined several festivals including England's Glastonbury Festival, Australia's Island Vibe Fest and Brooklyn's Afropunk Festival.
